As to the second question, I don't know. It depends on what your goals are. Do you really need to explain IN GENERAL the relational ties between the following propositions? Or do they work similarly on every language? Try and translate those examples into any human language and you may experience the reactions of hearers...
e.1. John is not an idiot, therefore he will find his way home all by himself
e.2. John is not an idiot, after all he will find his way home all by himself
e.3. It's a sunny day. John will be drunk.
e.4. What's your name? Let's say he then put it on top of the other one.
